You’re a model and writer – quite the pairing! How did you get started with both jobs?
I was scouted when I was 16 years old back home in Toronto and started modeling right away. Writing came a little later in life when I moved to LA and tried my hand at writing for Live Fast Mag. I love the spontaneous nature of the fashion industry and the creative stimulation of writing. Both keep me happy in different ways.
We love the sisterhood between you and Vivianne (founder and EIC of Live FAST Mag, fellow Society babe and overall badass)! Tell us about how you first met.
We met at a party when I first moved to LA. I didn’t know many people in the city and Viv approached me with such kindness. Since then we have worked together, laughed together, cried together and taught each other a lot. She’s my family.
You’re originally from Canada. What are some of your first memories of starting your next life chapter here in LA? Do you miss Canada?
I remember it being quite the struggle at first. It took me a long time to adjust to the city and form the friendships I have now. There was a point where I wanted to move back to Canada because I just couldn’t seem to find my place in LA. That changed over time and now I couldn’t think of a place I would rather be. I do miss Canada at times but I am lucky to have the opportunity to go back and visit whenever I want.
Five years from now, where do you see yourself? Share with us some of your goals and maybe even some fears.
I see myself combining my skills as a model, writer and influencer to help better the lives of others in some way or another. It’s scary living in the creative world because you’re blessed and cursed with the responsibility of your own livelihood. It’s hard to let go of fear and just go for what you want, but that’s what I love about creative people- they’re brave and inspiring. In 5 years I will be happy as long as I am still doing
something in the world of art, travel and imagination.
What is your go to look for day? For night?
Daytime: ripped denim cutoffs and a tee or crop top. I like to pair that with converse or my favorite rag & bone booties. Nighttime: I like a long, flowing black dress with a pair of comfortable pumps.
What are you listening to now?
I am obsessed with Milky Chance right now. They’re a German folk duo with reggae and electronic influences. I was lucky enough to see them at Glastonbury this year!
Who is your ultimate fashion muse?
I love Erin Wasson when I’m feeling tomboyish and Taylor Swift when I’m feeling girly.
What does it mean to you to belong to Amuse Society?
It’s an honor to be part of a lively group of creative women who have different influences but share a common goal; to inspire, create and live freely! Love you ladies!
